Keywords are important for SEO… but so are some other things!

Hi everyone,

I was having a conversation with a friend today about SEO and keywords and we ended up on a topic that I felt everyone should know :)

Finding good keyword phrases is VERY important, VERY, VERY important to the success or failure of your website.  But, there is also another thing you should be focusing on (actually 2 things) when you are promoting your website…

Whether you choose to use your real name or a pen name (fake name to keep yourself hidden) it is important to promote the name with your website.  This is because if someone comes to your website and doesn’t remember the name of the product or your website name, maybe they will remember the name that was on the site.  So promoting either your real name or your pen name would then have great placement in the search engines should they look for you via that method.

Also, you should always promote the product name.  This would be for the same reason… if people don’t remember your website name or your name, maybe they will remember the product name.

Simply use both your name (or pen name) and the product name in the anchor text when you are promoting your website.  By doing this, you are covering more angles to have your website listed high in the search engines therefore creating more traffic for you :)

Go promote your website… keep promoting… be consistant and you will be able to achieve and maintain great search engine placement for a long time to come!

Great tips! I’m known in my gaming groups as Magick, so that’s what I use on my site. But since it’s a team effort my brother & sisters get some online fame too. They often use the name of their main character for the game they are reviewing along with their “nickname” with their group.

I’ve got profiles up on the web on Yahoo, Myspace and IMVU so I’ve already done that end. Now I’ve just got to start writing some articles, unfortunately I’m having trouble keeping my blogs updated do to the time needed to research the games & create, upload the pages.

Got any ideas on how to find more time, get more help or something to make this project finish faster? I didn’t even know there were this many free to play games out there. When I started I was just going to put up info on the few I play. Then I started researching it and almost fell off my chair!

They even have cute games for the younger gamers! Keeps them busy so the older gamers can play. lol (I can’t exactly go leveling with a 6 yr old. BUT I can get him started on a game that will get his eye/hand coordination up, his concentration, reading & math skills up. So it isn’t all bad, he he)

The site still is being built, but let me know what you think of the design so far. I’m learning a lot from watching how you put together your pages for your launch. Thanks!

Sometimes the strangest keywords get recognized on my sites. One site a while back became well recognized for the keywords “broken hip age 85″ I’d mentioned in a blog several months earlier my Aunt’s broken hip, then Barack Obama’s grandmother broke her hip. My site flew to the top of the search engine for about a week, for that almost hidden phrase. It was exciting, because I realized that many phrases that I don’t see as “important” are key to my blogs. Thus the concept, “Write Relevant Content, you never know what’s really important.”

Thank you for sharing this concept.

To start earning money with your blog, initially use Google Adsense but gradually as your traffic increases, keep adding more and more money making programs to your site.

Yes, this is another method used by many, many people to become successful. I personally don’t really use Adwords, but know many people do and make great money using this method!

Best Wishes,
Shannon
